While it is not yet known when these features will be available to end users, they are expected to be available in an update in the next month or two.
WhatsApp is apparently working on an update that will allow users to recover or retrieve their mistakenly deleted messages. The new update will also allow administrators in group chats to delete information for everyone.
The new feature is currently being tested for 22.18.0.70 for iOS WhatsApp Beta users. However, the feature will soon be available to Android users as well.
According to reports, the ability to retrieve deleted information will be limited to what you delete for yourself (for me) , not what you“Delete for everyone”. A snack bar will appear to notify the user that the message has been deleted and they can undo it. It is not known how long it will take users to retrieve the deleted information.
The veteran messaging app will also give group administrators the ability to delete any information about everyone in a group. The WhatsApp Tracker Wabetainfo, which is currently available to some beta testers for the iOS version of WhatsApp, also found this.
The report says: “If you’re looking for a quick way to check if the feature is available, just check if you can delete any recent messages from groups where you’re an administrator: If you’re trying to delete messages from other participants, “Delete for all” shows up, meaning the feature is available for your account!”.
This feature seems to be inspired by Slack, a bit different than what we found in Slack, where group admins can delete messages without anyone knowing. In WhatsApp, a group member sees a message that says, “This message has been deleted by the group administrator.”.
While it is not known when this feature will take effect for all users, given that it has been released in several selected beta releases, it is safe to assume that in the near future, this feature will be rolled out.
