Sony has raised the price of both Ps5s by an average of about 10% worldwide. In India, the price of the PS5 could rise by about 7,000-10,000 rupees.
Sony recently announced that it would raise global retail prices for the PlayStation 5, largely because of the global economic environment and rising inflation. Jim Ryan, Sony’s president and chief executive, announced the price increase on his official PlayStation blog.

Markets will be affected, including several in Europe, Japan, Canada, China, Mexico and Australia. However, the PS5 will not see a price increase in the US.
“The global economic environment is a challenge that many of you around the world are undoubtedly experiencing,” Ryan wrote on the PS blog. “We are seeing high global inflation and adverse monetary trends affecting consumers and putting pressure on many industries. Based on these challenging economic conditions, the SIE made a tough decision to increase the PlayStation 5 Suggested retail price grid (RRP) in selected markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) , Asia Pacific (APAC) , Latin (LATAM) and Canada. There will be no price increases in the United States.
On average, prices have risen by about 10% .
The PlayStation 5, in Europe, now costs 549.99 euros, or 44,000 rupees, for blu-ray and 449.99 euros, or 36,000 rupees, for digital. The price of the console in the UK has risen to # 479.99(45,400 rupees) for blu-ray and # 389.99(36,900 rupees) for the PS5 digital. Earlier, the PS5 was priced at 499.99 euros (39.900 rupees) for blu-ray and 399.99 euros (31,200 rupees) for digital in Europe.
Earlier, the blu-ray version of the console sold for # 449.99, or 42,500 rupees, or # 359.99, or 34,000 rupees, in the UK. In Europe, blu-ray prices have increased by about 10 per cent and digital prices by about 12 per cent. In the UK, blu-ray prices have increased by about 7 per cent and digital prices by about 8 per cent.
The same is true in India, where prices are likely to rise by at least 7,000-10,000 rupees at the next replenishment.
One might think this would lead many people to abandon the PS5 in favour of the Xbox S/X. However, this is highly unlikely. Sony’s PlayStation 5 has been a huge success, outselling Microsoft’s Xbox. Sony shipped 21M Ps5s as of June 2022, while Microsoft shipped just 13.8 m, according to ampere analysis. Moreover, one of this generation of List of best-selling video games machines.
