The Nintendo Switch And Xbox Consoles Won’t Go Up In Price For A While

Those who buy a Switch or Xbox in the marketplace will no longer have to save

PlayStation is alone in raising the price of its flagship console, at least for now.

In separate announcements to Eurogamer this week, Nintendo and Microsoft have more or less confirmed that the Switch and Xbox consoles will not be raised in all major markets outside the US, as was the case with the PlayStation 5.

However, the two statements take different routes to this conclusion. Microsoft said it was“Constantly reviewing [ its ] business”, but said the Xbox S and X would keep their prices at $300 and $500 respectively. Nintendo, on the other hand, directly confirmed that it has“No plans” to raise the price of its hardware. The Nintendo Switch console starts at $200.

Sony cited market difficulties and supply issues in explaining the price increase for its PlayStation, which Microsoft and Nintendo have certainly dealt with in these difficult economic times. But whatever the reason, Sony is the only company willing to bite the bullet and raise the price of its already expensive consoles before the holiday shopping season.
